Kicking Up Dust. Acryclic on Cardboard by Michael Cook

Rather than a theme or single media this exhibition will be all about the different surfaces that Michael uses. The style is adapted according to the limitations (and possibilities) of the chosen surface, so very fine pencil drawings on smooth cartridge paper jostle with semi-abstract images rendered on very rough sack cloth and cardboard, as well as works on muslin and uneven hand-made paper.

Echoing Wood. Pencil on Paper by Michael Cook

The subjects are natural, with animals and birds, trees and plants, and human figures all at home in their various landscapes. Pensive figures interact with nature, listening for a word; trees and plants suggest ideas of solitariness or community, or offer protection and solace; hares, foxes and birds bound, prowl and kick, representing various aspects of nature and human emotion.
