Julie Wilson Julie Wilson lives in Great Easton a rural Leicestershire village with some of her
inspiration coming from her local surrounding environment. She trained at Loughborough College of Art
and originally designed childrens wear. Several trips to Kenya have given Julie the opportunity to get "up close and personal", sometimes too close for comfort, to wild animals including elephants and rhinoceros. However for unusual commissions, such as Llamas, she works solely from photographs with wildlife documentaries programmes providing supplementary details. |

Her work is highly detailed, textured, very natural and tactile. Julie utilises her background in fashion and design to produce her unique ceramic sculptures which are hand made in coarse stoneware clay using slab building technique with the use of oxide and ceramic pigments emphasising the animal's appearance. |
